Short Biography

I've been using Debian since (around) 1990, and was a lecturer at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) until 2015 when I retired. From around 1990 until 2025 I presented courses about the C++ programming language, and probably for the coming years as well. From 2000 until my retirement I was the 1st IT security manager at the U. of Groningen.

Early in the 21st century (2006) I met Tony Mancill. He's a Debian Developer and he supported my request to add the C++ Annotations to Debian. In fact, all my software projects were/are developed as open source projects, and practically all of them became Debian projects. For an overview see, e.g., https://fbb-git.gitlab.io/cppannotations/. In 2010 I gave a presentation at the Debconf10 conference in New York (title: Debian at a Large Dutch University)

My primary interests are teaching C++, and developing open source software projects, meeting the Debian standards. I've done so for decades and hope to continue doing so for many years to come. In my spare time I'm also a professional flight instructor (light aircraft).
