Finally, please tell something about yourself, how you came to Debian and Free Software, and why you want to volunteer your time [..]

I am a Debian user since about year 2000 when I switched from some other GNU/Linux distro that was based on source packages only. I don't remeber how I came to Free Software, but I incrementally learned how to avoid non-free software (with mixed success). I use, recommend and install the Debian operating system on a variety of computers for different people and purpose. In 2013 I tried to help Sagemath into Debian while making "Sage more distribution friendly" in a google summer of code project, where I collaborated with the debian-science team. In the meantime, I have had a few sponsored uploads (e.g. gnucap through debian-electronics), and I have done a few steps towards getting Jami into debian (restinio). I would like to become a Debian Maintainer to be able to upload new package versions and support teams without needing a Sponsor.
