- born 1963 in Germany (Cologne)
- first computer experience Commodore 8032, VIC-20, Apple II and CP/M
- moved to Aachen area in 1985
- first touch with FOSS, BSD (Ultrix, SunOS), AIX and Linux (SLS, kernel 0.98.x(?)) at RWTH Aachen
- Master in electrical engineering back in 1992 (master thesis: integration of massive transputer-based systems into computing center environment)
- worked for a large manufacturer of transputer-based systems
- worked for big EDA companies, maintaining Debian and RedHat systems, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris
- currently working for a big French Bank, running a large scale Debian infrastructure (and a few RedHat and OpenBSD systems)
- using Debian since Hamm
- building my own Debian packages since 2000 (appr)
- first packages included in Debian: xrsh, blockade
- currently maintainer of mg, network-manager-strongswan, qmmp (on Salsa)
- special interests: Debian, networking and firewalls, container-based virtualization (LXC, Kubernetes), VPNs, OpenBSD, pushing IPv6, ...
