My name is Jochen Sprickerhof and I am a research assistant in the knowledge based systems group at the Osnabrück University. Our group mostly works in robotics and as my daily job I'm maintainer and contributor for a number of big free robotic software projects like PCL and ROS.
My Linux experience reaches back to 1998 when I started using SuSE Linux but I switched to Debian in 1999. Since then I've been using Debian unstable on a daily basis on my own computer as well as Debian stable on servers I maintain.
I started working on Debian packages in 2011 as part of maintaining the PCL, though I have been looking into it before that occasionally. At first I worked with a PPA outside of Debian, but since 2013 I'm contributing to the Debian repository as well.
My first package in Debian was OpenNI as part of the debian-multimedia team. Currently I'm working in the debian-science team on packaging ROS.
