Luis Gomes

My name is Luís Gomes, and I am writing to express my interest in joining the Debian community as a package maintainer.

I initially entered the field of programming out of curiosity and a desire to understand in depth how software systems work. Over the past year, I have been increasingly involved in the free software community, not only as a user, but primarily as a programmer, with the goal of developing and contributing to free and open-source software that is accessible to everyone.

More recently, I have come across several Python modules and projects that are orphaned or no longer actively maintained. This has sparked my interest in contributing in a more structured way to the maintenance of essential software within the open-source ecosystem.

In this context, I consider Debian to be one of the most solid and respected GNU/Linux distributions, and it would be an honor for me to contribute as a maintainer, learning from the community while helping to ensure the quality and stability of packages.
