I have been a Debian user for a long time, programming mostly in Haskell and helping others with their problems. After getting to know some Debian Developers in person I thought about joining and contributing to help some understaffed groups. In the beginning it was just to care for a package I wished to keep in the archive, fix some small things, package new dependencies, but I had to depend on others in the Debian Haskell Group for the uploads. After some years I was asked why I did not apply to become a DD, but I had some personal reasons not to at that time. Now, having found a place to do my research and work as a local "Debian expert", I was asked to package some software, so why not be a help for the ecosystem and all the people who have helped me in turn?
