I have been a Linux user for 20+ years. My first distribution was Redhat Linux 5.0 on a CD which I was able to install on my Pentium 2 333Mhz.
A few years later I found a role for open source software for my small intranet in the form of OpenBSD which I set up as a server for hosting my personal page and providing internet to the rest of the machines.
Since 2011 I have been using a Debian variant distribution for my day to day use. Debian has been my Linux distribution of choice for software development involving use of open source softwares. I have done almost everything from Linux kernel porting to application development using Debian.
Starting in 2025 I am working for "OSS-Revival" https://ossrevival.org which focuses on revitalizing open-source projects. OSS-Revival aims to bring open source projects back to life by fixing bugs, modernizing codebases, and ensuring long-term support.
My first in progress sponsored contribution to Debian is a package named "quill" which is Asynchronous Low Latency C++ Logging Library.
Working on my first packaging was both a challenge and appreciation of Debain, the largest open source community.
I will:
- Be an active member of the Debian community.
- Add new packages to Debian
- Adopt packages that are orphaned and need attention.
- Helping other DD / Teams in packaging and any other task related to Debian.
