Advocate

This page collects statements of advocacy for Juri Grabowski <debian@jugra.de> to become a Debian Maintainer.

You must be logged in to submit a statement of advocacy. See the Single Sign-On page for details and https://sso.debian.org/ to obtain a suitable client certificate.

See here for details about advocating someone to be a Debian Maintainer. You should be familiar with their existing work within Debian and believe it to be of a sufficient standard that they can be trusted with upload rights to the packages they maintain.

Please be verbose if you can. You may want to write the advocacy in a proper text editor and paste it in the form when you are happy with it.

Note: An email with your advocacy message will be sent to the debian-newmaint public mailing list.

I support Juri Grabowski <debian@jugra.de>'s request to become a Debian
Maintainer.

Juri has been a valuable contributor to the extrepo-data repository. The
majority of external Debian packaging repositories that can be enabled
through the extrepo package (which I maintain in Debian) were added by
Juri. Extrepo would not be remotely as useful if it wasn't for him, and
the work ethic and volunteer spirit he's shown in working on this has
been exemplary. He is a joy to work with, and I look forward to seeing
him increase his privileges in Debian.

Juri wants to now be able to upload the extrepo-data package into
Debian, which I support as it would take some work off my hands :)

Having said that, while I have worked with Juri on the extrepo project
and believe he is ready to perform unsupervised uploads of the
extrepo-data package (which is not too complicated a package) right now,
I should add that I have not seen him work on more complicated packaging
work very much, and so I can't vouch that he is ready for full
unsupervised uploads as a DD yet. I don't think that should prevent him
from becoming a DM, though, and perhaps other people might be willing to
vouch for his packaging abilities in ways that I have not yet been able
to observe.
