For nm.debian.org, at 2025-01-07:
I support Marco Trevisan <marco@ubuntu.com>'s request to become a Debian
Developer, uploading. I have worked with Marco Trevisan as both a professional
and "free time" colleague for 10 years and I consider them as having sufficient
technical competence.
Marco's contributions to GNOME and related packages, and the Linux dekstop
ecosystem in general, should speak for themselves. He's been one of the main
driving forces behind many of the most important improvements over recent
years, particularly around features which affect distro integration.
I advocated Marco's DM status and signed the statement for him to have upload
rights to the GNOME team's packages several years ago. Since then he's been a
productive member of the team Although I myself have not been particularly
active in recent years since I left Canonical, we worked together very
extensively before that and I reviwed and sponsored many of his changes. He's
got the packaging skills necessary, the perfectionism we're looking for, and
it's time for the remaining restrictions to be removed, particularly so he can
start to help others into the team & Debian project.
One non-upstream thing to call out is that Marco was the key driver behind the
workflow changes that led to Ubuntu's packaging for GNOME components being done
in branches on Salsa. I believe that was an extremely valuable contribution
which has improved collaboration between the Debian and Ubuntu teams
significantly, leading to a greater sharing of fixes.
I have personally worked with Marco Trevisan <marco@ubuntu.com> (key
D4C501DA48EB797A081750939449C2F50996635F) for 10 years, and I know Marco
Trevisan can be trusted to be a full member of Debian, and have unsupervised,
unrestricted upload rights, right now. It should have happened a long time ago,
if you ask me!
