I got to know Filip in an academic conference on Computer Science Education
during the COVID lockdown, as he was presenting his Progvis simulator,
which was quite interesting and useful for my teaching. I got interested in
the tool, and suggested we could build it as a Debian package and make it
easier to install, reaching a wider population.

I only gave Filip a couple of pointers, and he came up with a near-perfect
packaging — And Progvis is not a simple tool to package, but is made to
showcase a whole programming system called “Storm Language”! Filip's
packaging was great from the beginning, and I sponsored its upload several
times between 2022 and 2023. Progvis is built using a tool for which Filip
is also upstream (mymake), which has a very similar story in Debian.

By late 2023, Filip became a Debian Maintainer. Sadly, that means we don't
talk nearly as often as we used to. But it also means the update frequency
for mymake and storm-lang (which includes the progvis binary package) is
higher!

Filip is now interested in packaging Skia, an accelerated 2D library his
software can conditionally use. Instead of sponsoring the initial uploads,
and then sponsoring every time we have a soname bump, or the number of
binary packages increases...

I am of the opinion Filip has a thorough understanding of the Debian policy
and makes technically great packages. He is also philosophically aligned
with the Debian project. I am happy to advocate him — If Filip becomes a
DD, I am sure our project will gain a great asset.
