Statement Uploaded by Upload date Actions
For nm.debian.org, at 2025-11-30:

I support Ben Collins <bcollins@libjwt.io>'s request to become a Debian
Developer, uploading.

I worked with Ben from 2005-2009 or thereabouts at Canonical, in the early
days of Ubuntu. I recall most of this being technical collaboration around
the interface between the installer and the kernel, although I was also his
line manager for a short while. We then had occasional contact for a few
years after that in areas related to the powerpc port.

Although it's certainly been a while, Ben certainly had more than sufficient
technical competence a decade ago, and I see no reason he shouldn't be
trusted with unsupervised, unrestricted upload rights again.

(This is more or less a copy of a similar statement I wrote advocating Ben
for DM access, but it seems to me that all the same things apply here too.)

I have personally worked with Ben Collins <bcollins@libjwt.io>
(key 3EC975981672961A1139173A5D5A57C7242B22CF) from 2005 to 2009, while we
were all doing a lot of Debian and Ubuntu development. I have not sponsored
packages for him (and I would be very happy to do that if it's required for
reactivating his account). But I echo Colin's statement: I trust him to be
careful and sensible, and have unsupervised, unrestricted upload rights again.
