I would like to apply to change my status in Debian to Debian Developer, uploading.

I am currently doing a PhD in bioinformatics, after years working in a wet lab.  I prefer to use free software tools, and think that all research should be available as free software.

I started creating packages for Debian because it saves a lot of pain to have libraries available compared to needing to install them manually. So far I've packaged some packages related to bioinformatics, mostly R libraries. Currently I'm working on packaging a Python library (python-ete3) and making packages for some new code developed in my own research.

In DebConf in Cape Town and Montreal I gave tutorials on packaging for beginners. I've also been thinking about how we can improve/update the documentation for people who are trying packaging for the first time (and are impatient). 

I would like to be able to upload my own packages and documentation.
