Declaration of intent

The most important requirement for changing status in Debian is to make sure that a person actually intends to do so.

This requirement has been approved by Judit Foglszinger <urbec@debian.org> 5 years ago.

This process has been closed by peb on 2020-08-15: no further modifications are possible.

For nm.debian.org, at Wed Jan 31 00:50:00 EST 2018:
I would like to apply to change my status in Debian to Debian Developer,
uploading. I have worked on packaging open source astronomy software as
part of the Debian-Astro team for a while, particularly packages related
to HEALPix all-sky images as well as occasional enhancements for
python-astropy and affiliated packages.

I would like to contribute additional software packages developed
specifically for gravitational-wave astronomy by the LIGO Scientific
Collaboration (https://www.ligo.org). We have a large body of software
that has already been packaged for our Debian and Scientific Linux
computing clusters (https://git.ligo.org/lscsoft/lalsuite), and I am a
regular contributor to the internal Debian packaging within our project.
I am eager to make this software available to a more general audience.

I would also like to continue backporting work to improve the availability
of cutting-edge software for astronomy research for users on stable.

Because of the number and sophistication of the packages involved for both
of the above tasks, I can be a more effective member of the Debian-Astro
team as a DD than as DM working through the sponsorship process.
