I support Maarten van Gompel <firstname.lastname@example.org>'s request to become Debian Maintainer. I am familiar his existing work in Debian and believe it to be of a suitable standard both technically and socially. Granting Debian Maintainership to Maarten would be good both for our users and Free Software. Since about june 2016 Maarten is the primary maintainer of sourcepackages frog frogdata libfolia mbt mbtserver python-pynlpl ticcutils timbl timblserver ucto uctodata These are all well maintained: bugs generally get fixed within a reasonable amount of time, no rc-bugs are open. Maarten is involved in upstream of most of these packages, and is a colleague of Ko van der Sloot who's the other half of upstream of most of these packages. I myself have been involved in maintaining this software in the past, and have collaborated with Maarten. At https://bugs.debian.org/838112 one can find Maarten interacting with other hackers to solve a packaging bug in uctodata, in January 2017. I know Maarten van Gompel can be trusted to have upload rights for his own packages, right now. --Joost van Baal-Ilić, Tilburg, NetherlandsSigned with key B8FA C2E2 5047 5B8C E940 A919 5793 0DAB 0B86 B067
