Dear Debian Community,
I hereby apply to join the Debian members as a Debian Developer with uploading
access.
There are many reasons I believe that being a DM is no longer appropriate
regarding my will to contribute to the project. As I'm keen on itemized things,
let's unroll them there!
* I like Debian;
* I'd like to participate as a member (this implies being able to vote, and to
potentially volunteer for tasks a Debian Maintainer can't accomplish);
* I worked on many packages, with people and by my own as a DM. I asked many
times for reviews, but also for sponsorship. While I'm still eager to ask
for reviews (my work will always be better when properly reviewed by
competent people than when it's not), I'd rather not bother people for minor
changes that'd require them to do uploads in my name, when I could do it by
myself, and only bother people with the reviewing part, which is less
boring;
* I'm a nice guy (wtf is this item doing there? nevermind, let's keep it);
* I also worked on QA-related tasks (distro-tracker, essentially), and I'd be
happy to have a better overview of these tasks, that an account would
provide.
As said in this itemized list, I did a reasonable amount of package-related
work, mostly in both Python Teams. I also took the administration of the
Mailman Hackers team, and I'm one of the two maintainers of mailman3 full
suite. I also packaged one C library, and started to contribute to devscripts
(plenty of work to do there!).
But, as I also said in my list, there is a philosophical reason behind this
application. Being a full member of the community has a meaning for me, and I'd
also contribute in other fields than packaging.
I'll stop there, because my DOI is already thrice as long as a normal one.
Cheers!
