You must be logged in to submit a statement of advocacy. See the Single Sign-On page for details and https://sso.debian.org/ to obtain a suitable client certificate.

Please be verbose if you can. You may want to write the advocacy in a proper text editor and paste it in the form when you are happy with it.

Note: An email with your advocacy message will be sent to the debian-newmaint public mailing list.

I support Fritz Reichwald <reichwald@b1-systems.de>'s request to
become Debian Maintainer.

Fritz Reichwald (identified by PGP key
C24BF851C2B6ED61EE85B65DF6B6345C54273B9B) maintains the Debian package
qutebrowser and its dependency pypeg2 since 2017, initially alone and
for upstream only. I joined as co-maintainer of qutebrowser a few
months later and sponsored all uploads of these packages to Debian so
far.

Co-maintaining a package with him is a joy: Both of us prepared about
half of the uploads and I only seldomly had something to nitpick or
fix before an upload prepared by him. And usually it were only minor
issues, like e.g. very new low-severity lintian warnings. And it
definitely happened less often the longer we work together on the
package.

In these years, Fritz continuously showed that he's keen and capable
to learn new things and to improve his packaging skills.

I think that for quite a while now, he's ready to do his own uploads
of qutebrowser. I think the package would benefit from him becoming DM
and doing uploads on his own, because then the package would not only
have two people checking for and importing new upstream releases or
responding to bug reports, but it would also have two people being
able to upload it and hence upload it more quickly in about half the
cases.

I worked long enough with him to know that he can be trusted to have
upload rights for his own packages.

So I herewith propose to grant Fritz Reichwald DM status.
