Declaration of intent

The most important requirement for changing status in Debian is to make sure that a person actually intends to do so.

This requirement has been approved by Housekeeping Robot <nm@debian.org> 3 years, 9 months ago.

This process has been closed by nm@debian.org on 2021-09-21: no further modifications are possible.

I would like to apply to change my status in Debian to Debian Maintainer.

I have previously worked on Debian Installer translations and i am familiar with packaging software for debian and plan to devote ten hours and more a week as a debian maintainer.

As for my reasons, i'm done complaining about outdated / unmaintained software and filing bug reports which could solved in a matter of minutes.

for background, I'm a former Computer Science student who has been using since 2016 and promoting the use of Linux and FOSS in my community.

2021-09-13 14:00 santiago - Hi, and thanks a lot for the contributions you have made to Debian so far. You are applying to become Debian Maintainer, but AFAICS, you have not maintained any package in Debian yet. Maybe there is a misunderstanding about the status of DM. A more "natural way" to become DM is to adopt/maintain some packages first, asking the help of sponsors. Please, take a look at https://mentors.debian.net/. Once your sponsors have been able to know you enough, it would be easier to have advocacies from them. The same for key endorsements, so please don't forget to sign your Debian-related mails, git commits, etc... I would suggest you then to close this application, and come back once you are ready. Best regards, -- Santiago yes
