For nm.debian.org, at 2024-12-03:
I support Philip Wyett <philip.wyett@kathenas.org>'s request to become a Debian Developer, uploading.
I have worked with Philip Wyett on triaging submissions on Debian Mentors
for six months and I consider them as having sufficient technical competence.
Phil has stepped into the volunteer role of Debian Mentors triage. He has
created a semi-automated process that reviews and responds to each submission to
Debain Mentors, providing basic feedback and catching the simple mistakes and
problems with package submissions. This makes life simpler for the Debian
Developers who come along later once he has marked a package ready for review.
This also creates a more encouraging environment for those who are beginning
their journey as contributors to Debian.
I have found him to be diplomatic and supportive in his interactions with with
those who have submitted packaged. His consistency and speed of response has
been impressive. I believe his effort reflects the best qualities expected of
a Debian Developer.
I have personally worked with Philip Wyett <philip.wyett@kathenas.org>
(key 70A0AC45AC779EFE84F63AED724AA9B52F024C8B) for six months, and I know Philip Wyett
can be trusted to be a full member of Debian, and have unsupervised, unrestricted upload rights, right now.

I have worked with Philip Wyett on many many and many packages (RFS to sponsor!)
for 3 years, and I consider them as having sufficient technical competence.
I don't usually advocate when I "just" sponsor less than 20 packages for a person.
But this time, things have changed since my last advocacy
1) he has strong motivation in keeping filezilla/libfilezilla in a good shape in Debian.
2) he is fast in acting and answer to questions/emails
3) he knows how ABI/API works, and he does "transition" the two packages successfully since
when he started working on them (its a 2 packages transition, but he knows his stuff!)
4) libfilezilla bumps ABI on each release, so being DM for him is probably painful.
5) he did work on other packages such as pingus, rednotebook.
6) I think having them as DD is a great value for Debian project.
7) since the last advocacy, his work on RFS bugs has been just AWESOME!

I support Philip Wyett <philip.wyett@kathenas.org>'s request to become a Debian Developer (with upload rights).
I have worked with Philip Wyett on filezilla, libfilezilla, w-scan-cpp, vdr-plugin-wirbelscan, compton, and rednotebook
for 3 years and I consider him as having sufficient technical competence.
Phil is very responsive and that makes working with him a charm.
He has done important work with filezilla and usually, there were no mistakes that had to be fixed to begin with.
More recently, he began to systematically respond to sponsorship-requests with feedback to newcomers.
