I support Aquila Macedo <aquilamacedo@riseup.net>'s request to become a Debian
Developer, uploading.

I have worked with Aquila Macedo on QA uploads, curl and packages from the
security-tools packaging team for at least 3 years, having sponsored uploads
for 1 year and a half and I consider them as having sufficient technical
competence.

I've met Aquila in DebConf 22, and by that time he was already a contributor
from the Debian Brasil mentorship program.

We met weekly in the Debian Brasil mentorship calls and his progress in the
last 3 years has been amazing.

We've worked together on complex CVE fixes backportings for the curl package,
and he has taken the initiative of fixing other types of issues more than once,
resulting in important upstream contributions.

At this point in time, he's a key contributor from our community, helping
others and working on things beyond the local mentorship program. He has made
meaningful contributions to the project and it's important to recognize this
now.

I have personally worked with Aquila Macedo <aquilamacedo@riseup.net> (key

can be trusted to be a full member of Debian, and have unsupervised,
unrestricted upload rights, right now.

I have worked with Aquila Macedo mainly on packaging work (particularly Ruby
packages) and on building our local community for around 7 years, and I
consider them as having sufficient technical competence.

Aquila’s involvement with the Debian Project started back in high school —
which is quite exceptional in the Brazilian context. He actively participated
in gatherings and conferences we organized in Brasília, always showing
eagerness to learn and a strong willingness to support newcomers.

He is one of the most easy-going and collaborative people I know, making it
truly enjoyable to work with him. I am proud of how much he has grown, both
technically and personally. His contributions to Salsa CI have been excellent,
and his packaging work has been consistently reliable.

I am confident that Aquila will continue contributing meaningfully to Debian in
the long term, and I believe he is fully prepared to become a Debian Developer.

I've met Aquila in-person in MiniDebConf Brasília 2023, but he was on our
online meetings since 2022. He's always eager to learn, easy-going to talk and
available to help on whatever is needed. He has helped our local mentorship
program by presenting a talk about Debian to students of University of
Brasília, helping to answer questions on our weekly calls and reviewing
student's merge requests on Salsa.

I have worked with Aquila Macedo on packages of the Debian Security Tools
Packaging Team, neomutt and curl multiple times, including stable updates and
backports, for 2 years and I consider them as having sufficient technical
competence.

I have to apologize for being very late here, but I couldn't not send this
message. Aquila will be a terrific addition as a DD and I'm pretty sure he will
help to spread Debian around Brazil.
