For nm.debian.org, at 2026-05-30:
I support Benjamin Somers <benjamin.somers@resel.fr>'s request to become a Debian Developer, non-uploading.
I have worked with Benjamin Somers on DebConf25 organization (well, to be honest, I haven’t done much work myself, but I’ve witnessed an insane amount of very good work from Benjamin!) for almost two years and I consider them as having sufficient technical competence. All interactions with Benjamin (IRL and online) have always been more than pleasant, and he’s very rigorous in his work. I know Benjamin Somers
can be trusted to be a full member of Debian, right now. His addition will make Debian better!
I’ve also noticed (on #debian-mentors and IRL) that Benjamin is also doing some packaging work. I haven’t worked with him on that regard, and thus cannot comment on this part of his work, but hopefully, someone who worked with him on packaging stuff could comment (and so we could let Benjamin do the full uploading DD process! I remember that zobel, my AM a “few” years ago, changed my non-uploading DD application to an uploading one, and I thank him for the push back then ;).

I met Benjamin several years ago in Brest, I cannot tell exactly when, but
probably around 2020, maybe earlier. The important bits are that I started
working with Ben when he accepted to help organizing DebConf 25, so end of
2023. As I mentioned in other places, without Ben, the DebConf in Brest would
not have been possible. So I am very thankful for his very hard and rigorous
work and all the involvement, that show how much he cares about Debian.
We have also collaborated in other topics, such as Debian and new regulations.
In every occasion, all our interactions have been pleasant.
I am thus happy that Ben is applying to become a Debian Developer. (As a bonus
point, this would help to increase the ratio of num_DDs / country_population in
Brittany!)
I have personally worked with Benjamin Somers <benjamin.somers@resel.fr>
(key 9E2689CA802E5A231E5C1E6CFC8247F5D511EC65) for more than two years, and I
