Declaration of intent

The most important requirement for changing status in Debian is to make sure that a person actually intends to do so.

This requirement has been approved by Housekeeping Robot <nm@debian.org> 8 years, 2 months ago.

This process has been closed by nm@debian.org on 2017-03-16: no further modifications are possible.

I would like to apply for the Debian Maintainer status.

I have worked on various parts of desktop-base since Squeeze and helped theming
grub, plymouth, login managers and desktops to the selected Debian theme for
several releases.

I like contributing in making the default Debian experience on desktops
enjoyable. I’m also interested in improving package quality through lintian
fixes, bug triaging and improving build process (for instance I’ve worked on
generating bitmaps at build time from SVGs instead of versioning them, I’ve
made available resolution for icons configurable at build time instead of
versioning every icon resolution in source control).

I wish to continue my work on desktop-base to improve the out of the box
desktop experience. I have goals like making themes switch more easy, having
boot splash like plymouth in sufficiently good state to ship it activated by
default, splitting desktop-base into more relevant sub-parts, and improving the
themes selection available in Debian.
