existing work within Debian and believe it to be of a sufficient standard that they can be
trusted with upload rights to the packages they maintain.
Please be verbose if you can. You may want to write the advocacy in a
proper text editor and paste it in the form when you are happy with it.
Note: An email with your advocacy message will be sent to the

I have worked with Romain Perier for some months (at least since
October 2018), debugging issues related to the (non-free)
raspi3-firmware package, where he kindly helped me put my head out of
a thick layer of sand. He has helped me with several issues regarding
the (unofficial) Debian preview image.
While there is clearly a lot of ground Romain has still to cover to
learn the nooks and crannies of Debian development, I see him as an
engaged person, and I am happy to state he would make a great Debian
Maintainer.
[ according to the recommendations in nm.debian.org, I will state: I
am sending this message to advocate Romain Perier
<rpomain.perier@gmail.com> for DM process #585. Today is
2019-01-28. ]

[ Advocating Romain Perier <romain.perier@gmail.com> for DM process
#585 on 2019-01-29. ]
I support the request by Romain Perier to become Debian Maintainer.
Starting in April 2018, Romain has contributed to various packages
maintained by the Linux kernel team (linux, linux-latest, ethtool,
firmware-nonfree) and I have reviewed most of those contributions.
Romain's contributions to these packages include:
- - Adding upstream patches for the kernel and updating its build
configuration in response to bug reports
- - Keeping the PREEMPT_RT patch set up-to-date
- - Fixing build failures introduced by Debian-specific patches
- - Adding a script to summarise upstream changes in the changelog for
firmware-nonfree
He quickly learned our processes and his work has been of a high
standard, so I added him to our Salsa group in September. I think
he is ready to be a Debian Maintainer.
