I support Daniel Shahaf <debian@daniel.shahaf.name>'s request to become Debian
Maintainer.
I have personally worked with Daniel Shahaf <debian@daniel.shahaf.name> (key
E96646BE08C0AF0AA0F90788A5FEEE3AC7937444) within the Reproducible Builds
project and have seem a level of commitment, both in terms of effort and in
technical ability, that would make him a credit to the Debian project.

Hi,
I'm very happy to see that Daniel Shahaf (d.s@daniel.shahaf.name,
danielsh@apache.org) applies to become Debian Maintainer.
According to "git log" of the upstream Zsh git repository, Daniel
seems to have started contributing to Zsh in early 2013.
Since then Daniel contributed close to 300 commits to Zsh upstream and
moved up into the top ten Zsh contributors. Quite some of his commits
are related to Debian, e.g. completions for Debian-specific tools,
Debian-related bug fixes, etc.
He's a regular in the #pkg-zsh IRC channel since summer last year and
joined the Debian Zsh Team shortly thereafter to package
zsh-syntax-highlighting -- which he took over as upstream maintainer
shortly before. zsh-syntax-highlighting became the first Zsh add-on
package under the team's umbrella. (And with that package he probably
sparked the addition of further addon packages under the team's
umbrella.)
Already when I reviewed zsh-syntax-highlighting for the first time, I
only found a few minor things to nitpick about and would have uploaded
it to the NEW queue as it was.
He also quickly started to contribute valuably to ongoing discussions
on the team's mailing list, e.g. here:
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-zsh-devel/2015-November/001583.html
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-zsh-devel/2015-November/001584.html
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-zsh-devel/2015-December/001642.html
He further started to contribute to the Reproducible Build project a
few months ago. I noticed primarily his suggested patches (and
according bug reports) to make packages build reproducible. See
https://reproducible.alioth.debian.org/blog/ and look for his name.
So I fully support his application to become a Debian Maintainer.
Regards, Axel
