Key consistency checks

This requirement has been approved by Santiago Ruano Rincón <santiagorr@riseup.net> 8 months, 2 weeks ago.

This process has been approved by santiago on 2023-02-21: no further modifications are possible.

Potential problems

  • no UID found that fully satisfies requirements

Every Debian member needs a GPG key of sufficient strength. In addition, all keys should be certified so we can link them to a real-world identity.

The normal requirements are:

  • the key should be type RSA and version 4 or greater
  • the key should have the sign, certify and encrypt capabilities (subkeys are encouraged)
  • the primary cryptographic material should be at least 4096 bits
  • the UIDs used by an applicant to work in the project should be signed by at least two existing Debian members (1 for DM applications)
  • as an alternative to the previous requirement, the key can be endorsed (see link at the bottom of the page) by multiple Debian Members (the number of required endorsements depends on the endorsement's age and nature)
  • pseudonyms or anonymity are acceptable in certain circumstances

If the key does not meet these requirements, and you would struggle to create one which does, contact Front Desk.

Keys are first searched in hkps://keyring.debian.org. If no key is found, then the key will be imported from hkps://keyserver.ubuntu.com/. Please ensure that you have sent your key to Ubuntu's key server. Sending public keys to keyring.debian.org will only work if your key is already in Debian's keyring and will only be taken into account after the Keyring Maintainers updated it. For Debian Maintainers and Developers, please remember to send your key to both servers.

This check will be approved manually by Front Desk as the application progresses.

2022-06-26 04:16 jlu - Hi all, My key should have a second DD signature from Luca Filipozzi (2018-08-25), but I realize I forgot to push that update to keyring.debian.org until today. An updated version is available on keyserver.ubuntu.com: $ gpg --list-sigs D5D568B2D34AB32A337944D22EC3F60DE71C0B9D pub rsa4096 2015-01-30 [SC] [expires: 2023-10-08] D5D568B2D34AB32A337944D22EC3F60DE71C0B9D uid [ unknown] James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2021-04-21 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 16281F2E007C98D1 2018-05-07 Francois Marier <fmarier@gmail.com> sig B5754A69B6BE608C 2018-08-25 Luca Filipozzi <lfilipoz@emyr.net> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2016-10-23 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2017-03-16 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2018-01-21 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2018-05-03 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> uid [ unknown] James Lu <bitflip3@gmail.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2021-04-21 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 16281F2E007C98D1 2018-05-07 Francois Marier <fmarier@gmail.com> sig B5754A69B6BE608C 2018-08-25 Luca Filipozzi <lfilipoz@emyr.net> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2015-10-02 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2015-12-25 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2015-12-25 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2017-03-16 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2018-01-21 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 3 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2018-05-03 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sub rsa4096 2015-01-30 [E] sig 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2015-01-30 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sig 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2015-12-25 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sub rsa4096 2017-03-18 [S] [expires: 2023-10-07] sig 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2021-04-20 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> sub rsa4096 2017-07-08 [S] [expires: 2023-10-07] sig 2EC3F60DE71C0B9D 2021-04-20 James Lu <james@overdrivenetworks.com> yes
