I support Athos Coimbra Ribeiro <athoscribeiro@gmail.com>'s request to become a
Debian Maintainer.
I've met Athos Coimbra Ribeiro through the Debian Brasília weekly meetings on
January at the least (hard to remember the exact dates).
The goal of the weekly meetings is primarily to help newcomers to packaging and
secondarily to discuss interesting packaging challenges that we are facing
ourselves.
Athos is an experienced packager (both for deb and rpm). He would often provide
very concise and on-point answers to newcomer's questions. Athos has also shown
a deep understanding of technical matters (packaging, OS, programming) when we
were discussing hard problems brought by someone else in the call.
Technically-wise there's nothing missing for Athos to become a DM or even a DD.
On the non-technical side, and perhaps most importantly, he has shown alignment
with Debian's values and helped packaging newcomers with the level of kindness
and politeness that we aim for at the project.
I would like Athos to be able to upload his own packages without the need for
reviews, so that he can more easily build a track record for his DD
application.
I have personally worked with Athos Coimbra Ribeiro <athoscribeiro@gmail.com>
(key 439884E6862A429C290DF63B033C4CA276024834), and I know Athos Coimbra
Ribeiro can be trusted to have upload rights for their own packages, right now.

I know Athos from my university time when we were colleagues in many classes
during undergrad and masters, he has always demonstrated how passionate he is
when the subject is free software. He is well aligned with all the Debian's
values.
I have worked with Athos Coimbra Ribeiro on Debian packages in Debian and Ubuntu
for at least 5 years and I consider him as having sufficient technical knowledge.
He is already a Ubuntu core developer and has demonstrated more than enough
technical competence to become a DM (actually, I really believe he is ready to
become a DD).
Athos is also part of the Debian Brasilia local community and mentoring
newcomers in our mentorship program. He has been guiding people in the
technical and also philosophical side, making a big difference in our community
building process.

Athos and I have worked together in Ubuntu and Debian for the last 3
years, and I am absolutely certain that he is a perfect fit for the
project. He has been an Ubuntu Core Developer for almost 2 years now,
having participated in several transitions, complex bug fixings,
mentoring, etc. In my personal opinion, he is ready to become a
Debian Developer right now, but I understand that he is still building
his contribution list here.
In Debian, I've sponsored 3 packages for Athos:
cccolutils
podman-compose
python-email-validator
As usual, his work was impeccable.
