For nm.debian.org, on 2026-07-15:

I support Alper Nebi Yasak <alpernebiyasak@gmail.com>'s request to
become a Debian Developer, uploading.

I have reviewed a number of large-scale changes submitted against
various Debian Installer components over the last few years; that work
was very solid from the get-go, with some clarifications/nitpicks
getting addressed along the way.

Since Jérémy Lal mentioned the work on depthcharge-tools, I'd like to
echo the resulting assessment: “having *largely* the required technical
competence”.

I've also received some big help in a timely fashion when I discovered
some regression regarding build time that would make everyone's builds
slower (buildds can take whatever time they need, but developers tend to
appreciate shorter feedback loops).

At DebConf, Alper Nebi Yasak even presented ideas to modernize d-i, and
after some informal discussion, I'm also convinced the proposed approach
would be very fine with me: trying to build something new without
immediately breaking the historical build system. With that in mind, and
given the amount of packages maintained by the installer team, I'd be
happy for Alper Nebi Yasak to be able to upload autonomously!

I have personally worked with Alper Nebi Yasak <alpernebiyasak@gmail.com>
since 2020, and I know Alper Nebi Yasak can be trusted to be a full
member of Debian, and have unsupervised, unrestricted upload rights,
right now.
