Declaration of intent

The most important requirement for changing status in Debian is to make sure that a person actually intends to do so.

For nm.debian.org, at 2026-07-14:
I would like to apply to change my status in Debian to Debian Developer, uploading.
I have been a Debian Maintainer since December 2022 [1], primarily doing
hardware enablement work for various ARM64 Chromebooks on kernel, initramfs and
installer related packages [2,3] via pull requests to salsa.d.o repositories.
Although I am capable in packaging work, I usually focus on upstream fixes and
working on Debian-specific software, so I don't have many packages to my name.

I have DM upload permissions for one package (depthcharge-tools [4]) that I
authored and co-maintain with the Debian Python Team, and two packages
(depthcharge-tools-installer [5], partman-cros [6]) that I co-maintain with the
Debian Installer Team. More recently, I worked on upgrading PulseAudio to v17.0
and pavucontrol to v6.1 before the Trixie release [7,8], which required
upgrading the webrtc-audio-processing library to v1.3 [9] where I also needed
to fix architecture specific build failures on i386 and MIPS.

I have occasionally helped fix Debian Installer build failures, and worked on
building it reproducibly. I want to do more work on the installer to improve
and modernize it, but I usually don't feel confident and energetic enough to do
so. Just to illustrate the scope: what I have in mind would require at least
one upload to every udeb-producing package, so Debian Developer status would
help with both the process and my confidence in it.

Besides technical work, I regularly try to attend DebConfs and give talks and
hold workshops, and so far attended those in Kosovo, India, South Korea, and
(currently in) Argentina. I want to eventually organize a DebConf in Turkey,
and I am getting more involved with like-minded people trying to gather up a
local team for it, but don't know how the timeline will be. I'd expect being a
Debian Developer would help with organizational work (if it is not strictly
necessary).
