Declaration of intent
The most important requirement for changing status in Debian is to make sure that a person actually intends to do so.

For nm.debian.org, at 2026-08-10:
I would like to apply to change my status in Debian to Debian
Maintainer.
I have adopted and actively maintain raptor2, rasqal, redland,
redland-bindings, docbook-xml, and wireless-tools, and currently
hold ITAs on sgml-base, docbook, docbook5-xml, and xml-core. My
work has included routine packaging modernization as well as
diagnosing and fixing real reported bugs, including a
release-critical Conflicts/Replaces issue in wireless-tools
(libiw30t64 against libiw30), reproduced and verified in an
isolated container before the fix reached the archive.
I would like to be able to upload directly to the packages I
maintain without requiring a sponsor's signature for each release,
and to continue that maintenance work going forward.
